“Every book should begin with attractive endpapers. Preferably in a dark colour: dark red or dark blue, depending on the binding. When you open the book it’s like going to the theatre. First you see the curtain. Then it’s pulled aside and the show begins.”
Cornelia Funke
I’m putting a book together and will keep your idea in mind. Peter

I so agree . A book is a delicious thing of beauty, not something crabbed and tawdry.

So true. I love my library, it’s such a physical thing!

A book made with real craftsmanship is a rare delight. The touch sensation being an equal participant in the reading experience is something everyone should try at least once.

I so agree. I think this might be why the image or idea of a library is still so magnetic (and meaningful) for just about everyone. While digital books are great, they haven’t replaced physical books at all, they’ve just added to the reading pool.
